Welcome to this journey through Holy Week and the story of Christ’s Resurrection.

This project began simply as a collection of poetry and artwork celebrating the Savior’s final days and His triumph over death. At the encouragement of friends, I added our family’s beloved Resurrection Basket tradition—a meaningful way we have focused on the true reason for the season for many years. With the help of loved ones, the first edition was created, including ponder questions, child-friendly activities, and beautiful coloring pages illustrated by my daughter (scan the QR code at the front of the book to access yours).

As often happens, the Lord gently guided me toward additional insights I could not ignore. After months of prayerful consideration, I chose to include this new understanding rather than leave it aside and later regret it. The result is this updated edition, featuring a fresh look at the Holy Week timeline and the addition of Grandma Stories.

Grandma Stories were added to bring richer detail and warmth to each day of Holy Week. Designed to be concise—about one page per day—they are intended for reading aloud as a family. While written with children in mind, they often resonate deeply with older listeners as well. Think of them as a starting point—a diving board into deeper study and meaningful discussion. For those who wish to explore further, I highly recommend God So Loved the World: The Final Days of the Savior’s Life by Eric Huntsman.

The Timeline was added to help clarify the sequence of events. This book includes a chart based on the lunar Israelite calendar, aligning feast days with the modern days of the week for easier reference. This timeline differs from some traditional interpretations—you may or may not agree, and that is perfectly okay. I invite you to study the scriptures prayerfully, seek confirming evidence, and celebrate Holy Week as the Spirit leads you.

The calendar particularly anchors Passover on Nisan 14, associated with the full moon, and highlights the fulfillment of the sign of Jonah—the three nights in the tomb prophesied by Jesus (Matthew 12:40). I am deeply grateful to Mindy McDonald, who studied with Rhonda and Ferrell Pickering, for her invaluable insights and assistance in developing this work.

At the back of the book, you will find an additional lunar chart illustrating how the feasts would shift if Passover fell on a Monday, demonstrating patterns the Lord uses in fulfilling prophecy. You will also find classroom experiences and an At-a-Glance chart designed to enrich your family’s Holy Week journey.

May this book bring increasing light, deeper understanding, and a more meaningful celebration of our Savior’s love and Resurrection.
